Board of Health Responsibilities

A Board of Health has six primary functions:

State law requires the Board to report and take measures to control disease, enforce state public health laws, and promote health and well-being within the health district. The Board is responsible for the health district budget, hiring a health commissioner to serve as the chief executive officer and manage day-to-day operations and activities, and hiring a medical director when the health commissioner is not a physician.

Meeting Schedule

The regular meeting of the Seneca County Board of Health shall be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:00 pm except during the months of November and December, when it will meet on the third Thursday in November and second Thursday in December at the same time. The meeting location will the Seneca County General Health District office located at 92 E. Perry St., Tiffin, in Conference Room A (basement), or an alternate location designated by the Board.

Members of the public may speak during the public comment section and are asked to keep comments under three minutes.

District Advisory Council

The District Advisory Council (DAC) meets yearly to elect its officers, appoint members to the Seneca County Board of Health, receive and consider the annual budget and special reports of the Board, and make recommendations to the Seneca County General Health District in regard to matters for the betterment of health and sanitation within the district.
